Effective paging procedure for the optical feeder microcellular system
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper considers a paging problem in the optical feeder microcellular system where group simulcasting and dynamic channel allocation technologies are incorporated. The objective is to propose an effective paging procedure whose performance is measured in terms of paging load, average paging delay, and paging success probability. In the paging procedure, paging signals are transmitted via group simulcasting, for which the control channel is allocated dynamically. The performance of the procedure is analyzed in an approximate queueing network model. The proposed procedure is then compared in performance with a simulation approach, from which the procedure is found to outperform any previous methods in the literature.

Phase Balancing using Simulated Annealing
Deregulation eliminates the boundary of the territory of the monopoly power industry. Competition forces utilities to improve power quality as well as to reduce investment and operation costs. Feeder imbalance describes a situation in which the voltages of a three-phase voltage source are not identical in magnitude, or the phase differences between them are not 120 electrical degrees, or both. ...
متن کاملAn Active Different-Sized Cell Combination Method (ADCC) for Street Microcellular Systems
One effective way to make a large-capacity mobile communication system is to use a microcellular system. One way to do this is to place the base station antennas lower than the surrounding buildings. This result in what is called a street microcellular system. We previously presented basic simulation results evaluating the performance of a different-sized cell combination algorithm (DCC) design...
متن کاملAn in-band power-saving protocol for mobile data networks
A new alternative is proposed for reducing the power consumption of the portable (battery-powered) units operating in a mobile packet-data network. First, a short review of the current power-saving protocols is taking place. It is shown that the most common means for conserving power is the intermittent operation of the receivers (at the portable units) and a central administration authority th...
متن کاملSupportive Effects of Human Embryonic Fibroblast Cell Lines on Growth and Proliferation of EBV-Transformed Lymphoblastoid Cells
Human diploid fibroblast cells produce a spectrum of necessary growth factors and extracellular matrix (ECM) components essential for growth and proliferation of a variety of other cell types. In this study, the effect of five human embryonic fibroblast cell lines, isolated from liver, lung, skin and foreskin tissues, was investigated. A coculture system analyse was employed to cloning efficien...
متن کاملPassive Optical Network for CDMA-Based Microcellular Communication Systems
An analog fiber-optic link transporting the wireless code-division multiple-access (CDMA) signals requires the minimum dynamic range of only about 30 dB. Motivated by this relaxed requirement, we have recently proposed a passive optical network for CDMA-based microcellular communication systems. In this paper, we reviewed the basic design rules and demonstrated various networks using double-sta...
